Waldorf Astoria Red Cake

Three 9" layers
NOTES: Frost with Waldorf Astoria Icing
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 c. crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 ounces Red food coloring
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
2 T. cocoa
1 t. salt
1 T. vinegar
1 t. soda
DIRECTIONS:
Cream crisco and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and food coloring. Stir in buttermilk. Sift together flour, cocoa and salt. Add this to the first mixture. Mix vinegar and soda together and then fold this mixture into first mixture. Pour into 3 - 9" greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 300* for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool; then frost.
